I Love Anisong Matsuri Malaysia Screens 24 Minutes of Cencoroll Connect
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime Festival Asia announced on Monday that it will screen a 24-minute preview of Cencoroll Connect, the combined anime of Atsuya Uki's first Cencoroll film short and Cencoroll 2 sequel, at its I Love Anisong Matsuri Malaysia event.
Cencoroll Connect will open in six theaters in Japan on June 29. The artist Ryo (supercell) is returning to compose the music.
The first Cencoroll theatrical anime short's story begins when a giant monster sends a town's citizens into a panic — except for a girl named Yuki and her schoolmate Tetsu. Tetsu happens to have his own strange creature named Cenco as a pet. Another boy named Shū controls the monster threatening the town, and the stage is set for a battle.
Uki (Digimon Adventure tri., tsuritama) directed, wrote, designed, and animated the first Cencoroll project himself, and it had its world premiere at Canada's Fantasia 2009 festival. It also played in Tokyo, Osaka, and New York at the New York Anime Film Festival. Ryo from supercell composed the music.
The Cencoroll 2 sequel was slated to open in summer 2014, but the website had said until this year that it is still in production. Aniplex then teased a "relaunch of the Cencoroll project" in January.
The I Love Anisong Matsuri Malaysia concert will take place at the Quill City Mall Kuala Lumpur on June 8 and 9. The concert will feature performances by Bless4, Luna Haruna, Mashiro Ayano, and Mili.
