The staff of Eiga Doraemon no Nobita no Getsumen Tansaki (Doraemon the Movie: Chronicle of the Moon Exploration), the Doraemon franchise's 39th film, revealed the second trailer, a poster visual, and additional cast on Friday. The trailer previews Dai Hirai's theme song "The Gift."
The staff also began streaming a teaser video for the film on Friday.
Junko Minagawa will play the mysterious transfer student Luka (name romanization not confirmed).
The film will open in Japan on March 1.
In addition to returning cast members, the guest cast will include:
(Note: Romanizations of names not confirmed.)
- Alice Hirose as Luna
- Sōichi Nakaoka as Cancer
- Shigeo Takahashi as Crab
- Yuuya Yagira as Goddard
- Kōtarō Yoshida as Diabolo
The film's story relates to the Japanese folkloric belief that a rabbit resides on the moon. The film is set on the moon and centers on strong friendships bound together by the "ability to believe." Luna is a mysterious girl who lives on the far side of the moon. Diabolo and his subordinate Goddard stand in the way of Nobita and his friends on their moon exploration journey.

Naoki Prize-winning mystery author Midzuki Tsujimura (Tsunagu, Kagami no Kojō) is writing the script, and she is also writing a novel adaptation, which will debut on November 16. Dai Hirai is performing the theme song "The Gift."
Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Takarajima (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Treasure Island), the Doraemon franchise's 38th film, opened on March 3. The film became the highest-grossing anime in the current 13-installment Doraemon film series after grossing more than 4.44 billion yen (about US$41.5 million) in 32 days. The anime had earned more than 4.88 billion yen (about US$45.58 million) and sold around 4,282,000 tickets as of April 8, becoming the film in the franchise to sell the most tickets so far.
