Mini Famicom/NES Systems Sell 1.5 Million Units Worldwide
posted on by Karen Ressler
Nintendo revealed in its financial results briefing on Tuesday that it has sold 1.5 million units of its miniature Famicom and NES consoles worldwide. The company sold through all the units it had prepared for each market.
Nintendo also apologized for the product's shortages, and explained it is trying to increase production but that some parts take time to procure.
The consoles, which come with a selection of classic games, shipped in November. While the Japanese Nintendo Classic Mini Family Computer (Famicom) comes with two controllers, the western Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition (Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System) features a grey design familiar to many English-speaking gamers and comes with only one controller.
