Genocidal Organ Anime Film's New Teaser Video Streamed
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The official website for the anime film of Project Itoh's Genocidal Organ novel began streaming a new teaser video for the film on Thursday. The video previews EGOIST's theme song "Reloaded."
The film will premiere at this year's Tokyo International Film Festival on October 31. The film will then open in Japan this winter.
The film stars:
- Yūichi Nakamura as Clavis Shepherd
- Akio Ohtsuka as Rockwell
- Kaito Ishikawa as Realand
- Sanae Kobayashi as Lucia
- Satoshi Mikami as Williams
- Takahiro Sakurai as John Paul
- Yūki Kaji as Alex
Viz Media's Haikasoru imprint describes Genocidal Organ's original novel:
The war on terror exploded, literally, the day Sarajevo was destroyed by a homemade nuclear device. The leading democracies have transformed into total surveillance states, and the developing world has drowned under a wave of genocides. The mysterious American John Paul seems to be behind the collapse of the world system, and it's up to intelligence agent Clavis Shepherd to track John Paul across the wreckage of civilizations and to find the true heart of darkness—a genocidal organ.
The new anime company Geno Studio is producing the film with director Shukou Murase. Geno Studio took over production of the film after the studio Manglobe, which was originally animating the film, filed for bankruptcy in September 2015. The film's staff then announced in October 2015 that the film had been delayed.
Genocidal Organ was originally slated to open in October 2015, but the release order of the three Project Itoh films was shuffled so that The Empire of Corpses would open in October, Genocidal Organ would open in November, and Harmony would open in December. The Empire of Corpses opened in October 2015 in Japan, and Harmony then opened in November 2015.
North American anime publisher FUNimation Entertainment debuted The Empire of Corpses and Harmony in select theaters in April and May, respectively. The company has also licensed Genocidal Organ.
The film website Tracking Board reported in January that director Chan-wook Park (Oldboy, Thirst, Stoker) will direct a film adaptation of Genocidal Organ.
