NIS America Will No Longer Publish Atlus Games in Europe
posted on by Karen Ressler
NIS America managing director Takuro Yamashita revealed in an interview with British video game news website MCV on Monday that NIS America will no longer publish Atlus games in Europe. According to Yamashita, NIS America terminated its relationship with Atlus "around ten days ago."
Atlus will also no longer distribute NIS America titles in America.
Yamashita explained the decision:
Atlus became very picky about selecting the European publishing partner after it was bought by Sega. It always cherry picked its EU publishing partner based on who offered the highest minimum guarantee on a title by title basis. I noticed that it was very difficult for NIS America to establish an equal-partnership with Atlus.Atlus and its European games have contributed a lot to the expansion of NIS America in Europe. I would like to express my greatest appreciation to them for that.
Sega of America announced its acquisition of Atlus USA on March 31.
Atlus games that NIS America has released in Europe include Persona 4 Golden, Persona Q, and Etrian Odyssey Untold 2: The Fafnir Knight. NIS America is slated to release Odin Sphere Leifthrasir in Europe this summer; Atlus USA PR manager John Hardin confirmed over Twitter that this release will not be affected.
Update: Error fixed. Thanks, Dessa.
