Love Live! Idol Yoshino Nanjou Will Not Perform in New Year's Kōhaku Battle

Voice actor agency Office En-Jin confirmed on Monday that voice actress Yoshino Nanjō will not be able to perform with the Love Live! idol group μ's in the Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Battle) program on December 31. Nanjou is suffering from patellar subluxation and a meniscus tear, which are injuries in the knee. Nanjou voices the character Eli Ayase in the Love Live! anime.
Kōhaku Uta Gassen is the New Year's Eve singing contest that is Japan's most viewed music television program. The μ's group will perform the anime's opening theme song "Sore wa Bokutachi no Kiseki" (That Is Our Miracle) on the program with newly animated footage.
The μ's idol group is the year's eigth best-selling musical act in Japan. The voice actress' contracts will expire at the end of March, and μ's will perform its "μ's Final Love Live!" concert on March 31 and April 1 at Tokyo Dome. The group's "final single" will go on sale on March 2.
Other performances scheduled for the program include BUMP OF CHICKEN (Tales of the Abyss, Blood Blockade Battlefront) and Superfly (Ushijima the Loan Shark live-action film), as well as 34-year-old singer Gen Hoshino, 19-year-old Sakurako Ōhara, Rebecca (the rock band who are reuniting after two decades), and the four-person band Gesu no Kiwami Otome.
