Crunchyroll announced on Monday that it will stream the new live-action tokusatsu series, Ultraman X as it airs in Japan. The stream will begin on Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. EDT and will be available worldwide outside of Asia.
Crunchyroll is also streaming Ultraman 80 (1980-81), Ultraman Leo (1974-75), Ultraman Max (2005-2006), and Ultraman Mebius (2006-2007). Ultraman X is Crunchyroll's first Ultraman simulcast.
Kensuke Takahashi (Hamatora stage play) stars as the 41st new Ultra Hero Daichi Ōzora, and Kiyotaka Taguchi (Ultraman Ginga S) is returning to direct. The show will debut on TV Tokyo on July 14.
The story takes place in a world where an ultra solar flare has awakened human-shaped beings called "Spark Dolls" from the depths of the Earth. Daichi Ōzora becomes Ultraman X to battle giants, kaiju, and aggressive aliens alongside the special defense team Xio.
