posted on by Daryl Lee Hale
Indie game digital distribution platform Playism announced on Friday that it will release an English version of Touhou Project action platformer Takkoman. The game will be available on Playism's online store May 7 for US$9.99.
In addition, Playism announced that Touhou 14: Double Dealing Character (Touhou Kishinjou) will also be available on May 7 for US$14.99. While the game will be playable on English operating systems, the game itself will be in Japanese.
The two games will be the first Touhou Project games to be officially available in English-speaking territories.
Playism describes Takkoman:
A hard-as-nails side scrolling platformer with gigantic bosses, Takkoman takes the adorable Touhou characters and sets them in a world far more dangerous than their aesthetic lets on.
Touhou: Double Dealing Character is the 14th main game in the Touhou Project series of "bullet hell" shooters. Japanese dōjin developer ZUN (founder and sole member of the Team Shanghai Alice dōjin game developer circle) released the first game in the series, Highly Responsive to Prayers, in 1995 on the PC-98 platform. Since then, the series has spawned 13 other main games, multiple spin-offs, and many fan-made derivative works based on characters and stories from the series.
