The 14th issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Big Comic Spirits announced on Friday that Shohei Manabe's Ushijima the Loan Shark (Yamikin Ushijima-kun) manga will get a comedy spin-off titled Yamikin ♥Ushijima-Kyun on the Yawaraka Spirits website.
Yūsuke Matsumoto will pen the four-panel series, which will start March 2.
Manabe's original Ushijima the Loan Shark manga depicts the human drama in the black market world, as seen through the eyes of the titular loan shark. Ushijima heads Kaukau Finance, an outfit that lends money at an illegal interest rate — "Togo" or 50% every 10 days.
The Ushijima the Loan Shark manga has been running in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine since 2004, and over 5 million copies of its compiled volumes are in print. The manga has inspired two live-action film adaptations, including one that premiered last year.
