4th One Piece Campaign to Revitalize Kumamoto Prefecture Distributes 'Hi no Kuni' Leaflets
posted on by Kim Morrissy
One Piece started a campaign in 2016 to revitalize the Kumamoto Prefecture after it was badly damaged by earthquakes. The latest move is to establish statues of the Straw Hat Pirates throughout the prefecture distribute leaflets showing their locations, along with information regarding the disaster-affected regions. This phase of the project is called the "Hi no Kuni Restoration Arc." ('Hi no Kuni' refers to the land of the rising sun - that is, Japan.)
The leaflets are being distributed at the Kumamoto prefectural office starting from last Wednesday and from the 7th floor of the Tsuruya department store during the third Kumamoto International Manga Fair, which ran from October 2 to 6. Future events are planned to take place at the locations where the Straw Hat Pirates statues are located.
In addition, the Kumamoto Public Relations Twitter account is holding a giveaway on October 9. 10 people who quote-retweet one of Kumamoto Public Relation's tweet that has the hashtag #ヒノ国 (Hi no Kuni) in it will receive 3,000 yen worth of Kumamoto local specialty items.
The Kumamoto prefectural government announced the statues in April earlier this year to commemorate Oda's outreach of 800 million yen (US$8 million) to the prefecture after the 2016 earthquake. (Oda is a native of the prefecture.) Four statues will go up this year followed the another four next year.
