Underwater Girls in Knee Socks Model Tentacle Mecha
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Designer and filmmaker Manabu Koga unveiled the newest installment in his Suite Underwater Knee-High Girls project. In the project's second Salvage collection, models appear underwater in knee socks with tentacle mecha.
Figure designer and artist Masahiro Shimamoto is collaborating on this wave of the project. Shimamoto's Haute Couture MoMo (MoMo stands for "Mobil-Movementess") robot project provided the tentacle mecha concept. Shimamoto's "The Abyss Kragon" inspired Koga's photo series.
The models appearing amongst the mecha tentacles are Shimarisu Mashima and Emiringo.
Suite Underwater Knee-High Girls is also collaborating with the Ultra Kaijū Gijinka Keikaku project that transforms kaijū (monsters) from the Ultraman live-action special-effects series into cute, female anthropomorphized monsters. Kadokawa will release the collaborative photograph collection for 2,000 yen (about US$19) on October 27.
Koga launched the Suite Underwater Knee-High Girls project in 2013. The project has published photo collections, held exhibits, and released a figure.
A video that lets viewers get a 360-degree view of one of the project's shoots began streaming in January.
