KanColle Fans Endure Long Lines to Play New Arcade Game
posted on by Eric Stimson
The new Kan Colle (Kantai Collection) arcade game from Sega Interactive has won an enthusiastic response from the franchise's dedicated fans... maybe a little too enthusiastic. Since the game's launch on April 26, lines to play the game have been very long, as well as wait times. Akihabara, Tokyo's electronics and gaming center, is especially burdened with aspiring gamers: fans have reported lines with around 200 people waiting at arcades with Kan Colle cabinets. Wait times have ranged from two hours to 16. The arcades use a ticket system and regulate how long the games can be played (three rounds per person), but many frustrated fans have simply given up hopes of playing entirely (at least in Akiba).
Kan Colle Arcade lets players control the fleet girls with a steering wheel, speed lever and command buttons as they engage in battle with enemy ships. Kan Colle was originally a browser game released in 2013 and has since been adapted into manga, light novels, and an anime TV series. A Kan Colle film is scheduled for release in fall 2016.
