CLAMP drew new, gorgeous artwork for limited edition Chobits Blu-ray box set. The set includes new cover art, a 32-page booklet, and 11 postcards featuring the art from the previous DVD singles. The box set marks the first time the series has been released on Blu-ray.
The sci-fi romantic drama originally aired in Japan in 2002. The story follows bachelor Hideki Motosuwa after he finds a a Persocom (personal computer), an android-like computer just laying in a garbage heap. Hideaki awakens the Persocom, but initially all she can say is "Chii." Hideaki decides to name her this and look after Chii, who appears to be able to learn.
The box set will go on sale on December 25 for 30,240 yen (US$246).
The new artwork is a pleasant surprise from the mangaka group whose latest series like xxxHOLiC: Rei, Gate 7, and Drug & Drop have had multiple, ongoing hiatuses.
